I was a guest on the Off the Grid podcast and at one point Amelia mentioned that she liked that my website wasn't all about girl boss energy and making you a millionaire.
And I was so happy to hear that.
Because when I started my business, I felt the pressure to lead with that messaging of Do your bookkeeping so you can make six figures. Get your numbers right so you can scale.
But I just couldn't do it. It wasn't me.
I feel some of that same “make it about 6 figures” pressure with the monthly money talks. But that's not their goal. I made them because stress and overwhelm block people from making simple changes that would pay off so much.
That's where I work. Unblocking people so things start to feel possible.
Unblock Your Money System
My last Peaceful Money Map client came to me because billing 20+ clients using a spreadsheet to keep track was getting overwhelming.
We started the session with a morning call. I asked questions to help me map out the current money system so I could see past the obvious billing symptom to the hidden issues: audit fears, uncertainty around paying herself, and QuickBooks being too confusing and overwhelming.
Fixing the billing issue was the clear priority. But if we only did that, those other things would become the next emergency.
And that’s why I mapped the whole system. Literally — a color coded visual showing what needed to happen first, what came after, and what could wait a bit. On the second call that day, we walked through it together.
Priority one: get billing software set up so it’s easier for her to manage AND better for her clients with automatic reminders, since getting paid on time had been an issue.
Priority two: get the bookkeeping set up and caught up to have one place to see income and expenses, for paying herself with confidence, and for the IRS if they ever asked to see proof.
At the end she said: "I think I've been avoiding it for a long time because I was afraid that it was going to end up being super overwhelming…And now I feel like, no, this is manageable.”
You can't fix what feels too overwhelming to look at. That's what the map is for, to make it feel manageable so you're ready for what comes next.
